Hadley's First Christmas

Hadley stayed awake long enough to "see" her Santa gift...and then she slept through the rest of her gifts. Aunt Devon shot video of Daddy opening Hadley's presents. Next year she'll be a little more animated ;)

Santa was good to me as well as he wants me to get back to my golf lessons so I received a new putter and 6 half hour lessons. I am hoping to get the ball in the air by the spring as that is when I can pick out a golf bag and the cute golf clothes! But only if I get some air under that darn ball. Santa also wants me to be ready for our fall trip to Arizona (the Dawgs play ASU this year) so we can golf together. Santa may have high expectations...that's ok though because I want Santa to run the ING Half Marathon with me in March. So we both have goals to fulfill...

No white Christmas here but we did get some much needed rain and it's falling again today. Marsh is headed for the Sugar Bowl on New Year's so we won't be doing much Monday night except sleeping. No bowl game for me this year - Hadley and I will watch games on TV as well as the One Tree Hill marathon on Soapnet. This is what happens when I am not allowed to work...I am now hooked on this silly show!!

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!!

Family Drama

I love my mom, but she drives me crazy. And my sister and my brother. We have way too much drama for a family of four - usually caused by her. The latest is that she is too scared to pick up my sister and brother from the airport. The kicker is she MADE Alex fly up here from Florida (he is spending most of his break down there with his friends) b/c she didn't want him to drive. But yet she won't pick him up (and Devon arrives at the same time). My sister got so mad she hung up on her last night and decided to rent a car. I told her no, that somehow either Marsh or I would pick them up as she spent enough money on the flight. It just stinks that my mom can't pick up her children knowing that it would be slightly easier than having us do it with a 5 week old at home that would like to be fed every 2 hours and a husband that is at work all day. My mom gets off early today...but again it's just too much drama. Marsh isn't a big fan of Christmas to begin with so this really makes him enjoy the holiday! I am starting to think that we should just go away somewhere instead of being around the stress. This is probably Devon's last year being with us anyway as she better be engaged soon and thus spending the holidays with Phil's family in Texas. ARRGH it shouldn't be so hard.
On a lighter note Hadley finally had her first bath in her baby bathtub this week. Her cord just did not want to fall off...it took forever! She didn't mind the bath too much and Marsh took tons of pictures...these will of course embarass her when she is older! We are such mean parents;)
Debbie - I thought of you earlier this week as Dan Fogelberg passed away and his Same Old Lang Syne song is playing alot this time of year. You loved that song and I always think of you when I hear it..."Just for a moment I was back at school, and felt that old familiar pain"...that line still gets to me! It's one of those timeless songs, that is for sure.
Well, in spite of my ranting above I am looking forward to Christmas with our baby girl. Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas!!

It's beginning to look alot like...Spring?

Our stockings are hung and we have watched Rudolph and Frosty, yet I am in shorts and I feel like I should be singing that Hawaiian Chrismas song! They say the cold weather is coming back...honestly it's been nice not to run the A/C or Heat for a change! I've also been able to take Hadley for a some outside walks in her stroller!
Hadley is 4 weeks old today and the time has gone by so fast! She is growing (and eating and eating...) and she can finally wear more outfits since they fit!
We'll take our first road trip this weekend as we're going to visit Granny in Augusta for the day. That is the only travel we'll do for the holidays - woo hoo!
I hear Hadley stirring as it's time to eat yet again. Those 2-3 hours really go by fast! Especially in the middle of the night...:) Enjoy the rest of your week!
PS - ok I moved the pictures around but now my text is all messed up. I cannot figure out formatting. Help.

Pictures

I sure wish I knew how to lay these pictures out better when posting? I click on the add image icon...is there something else I should be doing? Anyway, we had lots of fun visiting with Aunt Devon this weekend as well as "Uncle" Phil and we sure wish he would make himself an official uncle soon!! Meaning hurry up with the ring so we can start planning Devon's wedding and Hadley's flower girl dress. Geez!! I did have that margarita but I could only drink half of it. Yep, I am an official lighweight ;).

Have a good week!

Good Check-ups

Both Hadley and I had our 2 week appointments yesterday. Hadley gained 11 ounces since last Monday and grew a half inch so she is up to 6 lbs 8 ou and 20 inches. Maybe she'll start to fit in some of her newborn outfits soon!!! My appointment was quick and easy - my scar looked fine and I am now allowed to drive again. I can also walk on the treadmill so I just got done with my first attempt. I made it one mile and decided not to push it as I did feel a little weird/wobbly towards the end. Funny how just over two weeks ago I was still running (slowly) and now walking is a challenge!!

I started pumping this week so Marsh can help with feedings. He got to feed her for the first time yesterday at the Dr office. All I can say is I defintely lack some coordination with this pumping thing...how do you hold something in each hand and then also turn on the pump and set it to what is comfortable without making a complete mess? I hope to acquire some skills shortly...

My sister is back in town today for a business and staying until Sunday. We may go to our favorite Mexican place on Saturday and if so, I will have to have one margarita. First time since February...Woo hoo!!!

Have a great weekend!

A few more pictures

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Marsh headed back to work today and we miss him already. I officially do not know what to do with myself all day...this is very weird. I can't just sit on the couch and watch Regis and Kelly and The View!

Well, one thing I learned from last week: if we have another child someday we will NOT have family staying with us immediately after we arrive home. That was just too much for me. Yesterday was the only day the 3 of us had to ourselves and it wasn't enough time.
Here are few pics taken over the past couple of days. Hadley was wearing her Baby Nole outfit from Aunt Devon Saturday evening...it didn't help FSU but oh well. She also loves her Rainforest swing and she is starting to focus on the mobile.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's a very special Thanksgiving for us this year! We are having so much fun with Hadley - she changes every day. So far so good with nursing and she is on a good schedule - for example we ate at 11 last night, then 2:45 and 5:45 this morning. Not too bad! I am feeling pretty good and recovering well I think. I haven't been sitting still as much as I probably should though...
It's been a busy week - Marsh's mom actually came over last Friday and has stayed at our house ever since...Devon and Alex are here...and while I do enjoy being with everyone I am looking forward to spending time with just Marsh and Hadley very soon. I am about to reach my limit with the both grandmothers ;)
Looking forward to watching lots of football this weekend! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Ready or Not...

It's about that time. I already had my meltdown Sunday so I am hopeful there won't be an encore tomorrow. Maybe it didn't happen to you but I went through the " I can't do this, I am going to be a bad mom, I am scared, I am worried, etc...let me get mad at my husband..." stuff but after being treated to a nice dinner and one more crying attack on the drive home I think I am ok now. Except I picked up another cold - geez. I don't think the drugs I get tomorrow will help my stuffy nose!

After work I am heading to the grocery store to stock up for Thanksgiving. I can't believe it's next week! Aunt Devon arrives from Texas on Monday and I can't wait to see her!! Marsh's folks will drive over next Wednesday night.

As for Baby Duncan's name...drum roll...it took 9 months but this has been the front-runner all along and I just had to be patient for Marsh to agree: Hadley Marie Duncan.

"Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before, I know I'll often stop and think about them, In my life I'll love you more. " John Lennon, In My Life

One Last Gameday for 2007

I figured we could get back to Atlanta in a hurry if necessary, so we made the trip to Athens this past weekend for one more game. We took my mom and got to spend time with Marsh's niece as well. Had my 38 week appt today and we're still on for next Wednesday unless she makes a U turn. I really don' t think that is happening...she is obviously very stubborn like her father. And mother...poor kid.
No surgery for Belue...yet! The 2nd opinion was well worth the hour drive but we found out her other knee has damage too!! You wouldn't know it if you saw her tearing across the yard every day. The vet was great and he wants to see if the ligaments will possibly improve on their own first - meaning Belue is basically on "bedrest" for the next month. It's hard to keep her quiet/still so she has to spend alot of time in her crate but if we can avoid surgery (which doesn't always fix the ligament for good...so it's a crapshoot basically) that would be fantastic.
Of course work just won't slow down so I can't really be "caught up" before next Wed...I am doing all I can to tie up loose ends. We also have a few more things to do around the house this weekend. It's a bit surreal that by this time next week we'll be spending time with our baby girl. I am scared to death but of course very excited. I just hope I don't boo hoo the whole time I am on the operating table!
I'll be in touch...:)

Quick Update

My C-Section is scheduled for November 14th at 11:15am. Baby Duncan will be here in 2 weeks (or less)...per my appointment yesterday I am not dilated at all so it's very doubtful I'll go into labor anytime real soon. Fine by me - we still have lots to get done around here plus work is a zoo!

We take Belue for a second opinion (ie a second price!!! ouch!!!) this week but surgery is definitely in her future. As in near future - so we'll bring home a newborn and a gimpy doggie at the same time. Busy times around here!

Happy Halloween!

Season Ending Injury?

No, I am not talking about a Tech or UGA player...it's our very own Belue. Our vet thinks she has a torn ACL and we have to go to a specialist soon for a MRI on the back right knee. Surgery is probable and we aren't sure about rehab...but we hope to have her back at full strength for Spring Practice!

Yes, it's always something with these dogs. All I can do is shake my head...my dog has an injury that most of us relate to athletes. She thinks she one too - this dog has no clue she is supposed to be fat and lazy. Instead she loves to run and jump and will go for hours if you let her. Trying to keep her somewhat still these days is tricky.

Belue may not be the only one having surgery. I went to my 35 wk appt yesterday and another ultrasound confirms that Baby D is still enjoying the head up/ booty down position. She has not budged in over 4 weeks. We have a little more time for her to move before we have to make a final decision about a C section. If we do have to go that route, I will be scheduled for the week of Nov 13th, as that is one week prior to my due date. Obviously this is not how I "planned" for things to go but all I want is a healthy baby girl so we'll do whatever is necessary and/or safest for her arrival. We do have the option of trying external version and we will decide on that very soon.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week. And Happy Birthday to my little bro...19 this Sunday. YIKES!

Turn, turn, turn

Baby D wants to take her time...she is still breech per my appt this morning. So we'll cross our fingers/toes that she decides to flip sometime within the next 3 weeks. And I'll try a few of these old wives tales I've read...although burning incense between your toes is a little too "out there" for me. Sorry kiddo.

No football games to attend in October since we aren't going to any away games. I tried to get the OK for Jacksonville at the end of the month but apparently Florida is not considered "local travel"...who knew? Ha Ha. We have plans every weekend though, not to mention we still have lots of baby stuff to finish. My assistant is coming down from VA so I can show her how to do some things that aren't really "explainable" via phone. However since I work from home I highly doubt I'll ever be too far from the computer, since the nursery is across the hall.

Hope everyone is enjoying the cooler temps!

A little scare...and too sick to travel

Well, I am done with my last business trip...I never made it to the airport. This thing I have won't let up and the Dr prefered that I stay home. We have a huge gathering of clients tomorrow for a golf outing and I am so bummed to miss it;however tonight and tomorrow night would have been late evenings and there is no way I would have had any rest. I do not want bronchitis or pneomonia!

My Dr appt today became a little more dramatic than usual. I realized over the weekend that Baby D wasn't moving too much. I thought maybe I had poisoned her with Sudafed (even though I had cleared it with the dr Friday) so I became a bit frantic. This morning they put me on a monitor and I guess didn't like the "reactivity" they were seeing so off I went for another ultrasound. And I fell apart. Thankfully Marsh works right around the corner so he was there in minutes. The ultrasound showed that Baby D is a gymnast in training...she is trying to touch her toes right now meaning she is in a breech position. That is why I cannot detect as much movement. I can sure feel her head though...this whole time I was thinking that was a foot. Nope, it's her hard head...wonder where she gets that from? So everything is fine and hopefully she'll somersault her way back to right position sometime over the next 5 weeks. Not sure what happens at week 36 but apparently that is when the docs want the baby head first. Fingers Crossed! Toes too.

A late summer cold

Well, I can finally say I am sick while pregnant...just not the nauseous kind of sick. I have a nasty cold or bug or whatever and it's miserable. I started feeling stuffy Thur, then I had the full blown chills/sweats on Friday. Yesterday and this morning I am still very stuffy but now it's just an annoyance more than anything. Plus it makes sleeping a bit tougher than it already has become! UGH. I head up to Virginia tomorrow so I am sure the plane ride will make it all better...right! I am very happy that this is my last trip up there for a while - probably until next spring. I do have my 31 wk appt first thing in the AM so I am looking forward to that as well.

So I finally I have a picture to post - taken yesterday in Athens. Marsh was even "kind" enough to pull my shirt tighter in the back, just so I could look even bigger on camera. Isn't he thoughtful...

Have a great week!

Congrats to Tech!

And shame on FSU. The victory in South Bend was long overdue...and I just don't know what to think about Papa Bowden anymore. Oh well, funny how I am not near as angry as I normally would be...don't want to stress out Little Miss Duncan. No, we don't have a name yet...

29 week appt this morning and everything is great. I now start going every 2 weeks! My tummy measured right at 29 weeks and I've gained a total of 17 pounds. She has been very active these past few days (I think she is fired up about football) and when they put the microphone thingy on me to check the heartbeat she pushed back, which was pretty funny. We know 6 other couples that are expecting - one of which is having twins! So hopefully our little one will have lots of play dates down the road.

We had a nice weekend as we spent Fri-Sunday in Athens for the UGA game. We're headed right back for this weekend. Marsh's niece is a freshman there and we hope to see her on this trip. She went home last weekend...she still has the hometown boyfriend. For now ;)

Hope everyone enjoys the short week!

Ready for a three day weekend...

And some football of course. I sure wish I could be in South Bend...I can't believe it's been 10 years since I was there. Hopefully the Jackets will finally get a much deserved victory against ND after losing 2 heartbreakers. We'll in Athens for the weekend as the Dawgs open against OK State. Right now there is a 50% chance of rain but I'll take that over the 100 degree temps. I just won't wear anything white!

I am tired and sore from the weekend. I had 2 good 3 mile run/walks and then we had to move my office upstairs (it's now across from the nursery) and put the bedroom furniture in the basement (that was once in the nursery). That will be Grandma Cheryl's room when she dog sits for us this weekend! We already have one guest bedroom set up but the basement has alot more space as mom is also bringing her dogs over. It will be romper room for sure. 5 dogs going nuts in my poor house. I woke up this morning with an aching back and feeling exhausted. Instead of going to the gym I just did an easy walk in hopes of loosening up a bit.

We also (finally) got the ball rolling making purchases for the baby! On Saturday we ordered the furniture, purchased the stroller, car seat, and bedding. I felt like I had finally accomplished something! I haven't decided on a pack n play yet but I have it narrowed down. So while we still have a ways to go, at least we made a dent in the list!

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend! Jules, have a great time in Chicago and make sure Tech wins! I am holding you responsible ;) Go Jackets!

Latest from the Doc

I had my 25 week appt this morning and everything is going well. Heart rate is 150 and I am measuring 25 cm - that's about the extent of the appt. Besides drinking that nasty glucose drink - ick. It did not taste like Sprite as promised! More like a melted green popiscle or a really bad shot (one of the fruity ones) you would get at a Buckhead bar.

We took a childbirth class over the weekend. It was basically an overview of everything, condensed into 6 hours. You know, the videos and all of that stuff. Since I am planning on using technology to it's fullest (ie bring on the epidural) I don't think we'll go to any other childbirth classes. I may take the breastfeeding class later in the fall and we may also go to the infant cpr class. Other than that we really need to start buying some things for this child. So far we've done nothing although we finally looked at furniture over the weekend. I keep telling Marsh that we need to knock this out before Sept 1st...otherwise we'll be missing games to shop!

My mom will be here Saturday night so we'll help her get settled on Sunday. Hard to believe how fast the summer has gone by - my brother moved into his dorm yesterday and starts soccer practice today. I think he'll be used to the heat being a Florida boy...it is so hot here this week. By far the hottest of the summer. I am running indoors most of the time but this past weekend I ran outside and thankfully I was up very early to avoid the heat. My days of running around the neighborhood are about over though...darn bladder pressure! The treadmill I use at the gym is right next to the ladies room...much more convenient!!

Nothing else too new and exciting going on for us. Hope everyone has a good week and try to stay cool!

A Quick Hello

Greetings from Virginia. I have never seen a longer security line than the one waiting for me at Hartsfield this morning. Apparently I now need to get to the airport 3 hours ahead of time. I made my flight just barely...I am about over traveling that is for sure! I'll be glad when I officially can no longer fly.

Good news on my mom - she received a good job offer tonight and she plans to accept. Tomorrow she hopes to secure a cute rental house in Alpharetta. So it is all falling into place and her move date is August 11th. Ready or not, here comes Grandma! Oh I hope she doesn't drive me nuts;)

We went to the Tim & Faith concert this past weekend with one of Marsh's brokers. It was alot of fun but my days of staying out late have long passed me by! We didn't get to bed until 2am...I am still recovering! I hope I can stay awake for some football games! I am off to read a little Harry Potter and then hopefully get a good night's sleep here at the Omni Charlottesville. Although I am hearing lots of noise in the hall...sigh! Bye for now!

Blue or Pink?

One of my favorite movies growing up was Sleeping Beauty. My sister and I would fight over what color her dress should be, b/c if you watch the very end of the movie Flora and Meriweather (the fairies) change her dress back and forth and my sister and I would strain our eyes to see what color the dress was as Sleeping Beauty fades from the screen. I wanted blue and Devon wanted pink. Well, fast forward to 2007 and as soon as I tell Devon she is going to be an Aunt, she automatically demanded PINK, meaning my baby had better be a girl. And you wouldn't you know, Miss Priss gets her way yet again...;)

We had our ultrasound this morning and as the technician put it: "that's what we call a hamburger, not a hot dog". Geez I love the medical terms! Yes, we are having a little girl and she appears to be healthy and growing right on schedule. The tech estimated her weight at 14 ounces right now :) I have lovely photos of her profile, her hands, her spine and her feet. My doctor said my bloodwork looks good and just to keep on keeping on. I verified YET AGAIN that I could continue running and lifting, as Marsh's entire family was appalled when I told them over the weekend that I was still running. And they about had heart attacks when I picked up Belue (she is our little dog about 45 lbs; I wouldn't dare attempt Munson!!)...I thought something was wrong with Belue when they all gasped. Pregnancy does not mean you have a disease nor does it mean you're fragile. Sometimes I get a little annoyed when people make me feel that way. I know they are just being caring but still...sorry, I don't mean to be ugly. Blame it on hormones!!!

Y'all have a good week!!

Quick "vacation"

We returned from St. Simon's yesterday afternoon...I swear the drive has gotten longer since we last went down 3 years ago. We had a very nice time though and the wedding we attended was lots of fun. The ceremony was held in an old Episcipal church in Brunswick so I loved it (since I was raised in the Episcipal church). I've already told my mom her first task after she moves here is to find us a church as I want the baby christened while Devon is home for Christmas. Plus it will be a great way for Mom to meet people. She is coming up the weekend of July 14th to look at places to live (and perhaps set up a few job interviews). It will be nice to have her visit and we've already planned on my first trip to Babies R US and to go see Harry Potter of course.

I bought my first maternity item - the Bella Band! Hopefully it will allow me to wear my regular clothes a while longer. Especially work clothes, as I only have to wear those once a month so the less I have to buy of the them the better for my wallet! I can't believe I am at the 20 week mark - the months are flying by so fast. Quick brag (sorry) - I made Marsh run with me down at SSI and he was not happy that I dusted him...and I was going slow!!! He ended up telling all of his friends though so I guess he got over the "shame" of a pregnant lady outrunning him. It will be a good story for the kiddo one day. Disclaimer - Marsh hadn't run for a few weeks since he was on the road for work...he is one of those that after 2 or 3 runs he's back at 8 minute miles. So usually I am the one left frustrated (since I run faithfully 3-4 times per week, for oh the last 7 years).

Devon and Phil made it to Dallas late Saturday afternoon. Everything is going well and they are getting settled into their new place. Scarlette had a blast on the road trip, apparently jumping all over the bed at the Holiday Inn in Mississippi. Devon starts work next Monday so she'll have all week to figure out her way around.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy July 4th holiday!

I Carry Your Heart With Me

I love the movie - In Her Shoes. While Devon has bigger feet than me, we've still shared lots of clothes, laughs and tears together over the past year living together. When I saw the movie for the first time (on HBO a few months ago) I boo hooed during that poem b/c it really hit me how much I love my sister. I am going to miss her so much. And her dog Scarlette who is part of our family and my dogs will be lost without her.

When my sister was born I was in 2nd grade, and while mom said I could stay out of school to welcome Devon home from the hospital I could not be bothered with that...it was the day of the science fair after all! Devon hated everyone but mom the first year of her existence so needless to say I wasn't too impressed with this little sister thing. In her toddler years she loved to torment me by 1) putting her feet on me all of the time and 2) going potty in her bed, getting up and getting in bed with me with her wet pjs, and then wetting my bed too. Oh the love I felt for this child...she'll tell you I got her back by never letting her touch my barbies or my sticker books.

During my high school years I didn't have much time for lil sis, and our family wasn't doing too great overall so she lived with my dad for a while. So we lost out on alot of time together...it really wasn't until Devon got to college that we started to talk often. She was (and is) someone that doesn't show alot of emotion and she also has alot of common sense. She doesn't judge people and she doesn't care much what other people think. Devon was there for me when I felt my whole crashing down 5 years ago - she listened to me cry and yell and would talk to me for hours on the phone when she could. I don't know if I would have made it through it all without her.

She was my first and only phone call from Vegas with my marriage news - I told her she could only tell if the plane crashed:) She knew right away she was going to be an aunt (she already is an Aunt - Marsh has called her Aunt Devon since we brought Munson home 3 years ago and even has it programmed into his cell phone). She is also the one that sets the time on my
Timex and figures out how to record on our DVR. I hope she can give me directions over the phone!!!

I know my sister will have a wonderful life in Dallas. This is her time - and I can't wait to be there for her wedding, her babies, everything. I carry her heart in my heart. Always.

It's not in my job description...

I am very happy to be posting as it means that I have a computer again. The piece of crap IBM T40 died last Wednesday which made working just slightly (more) stressful than usual. And my boss just didn't want to believe the computer was really dead so I was running around Atlanta talking to computer people, calling IT in Charlottesville, tearing my hair out, crying, cussing, you name it because I HATE COMPUTERS and I do not fix them. I promise you that nowhere in my offer letter does it say I am to try to diagnose and fix computer problems. I had issues when I moved last summer and I told my boss I would not go through this again but here I was, hysterical and frustrated and ready to quit. My new computer arrived Friday late afternoon, and we (Marsh, Devon and I) spent all evening getting it up and running...had a few more glitches...I threw one more temper tantrum...and finally the vpn, the network, the email, the internet, the shared files worked like they should. And I spent the rest of the weekend and today making up for lost time with my clients. I really really really needed a glass of wine...but alas a bowl of frozen yogurt did the trick. By the way, have you tried the Wendy's Frosty Float - not bad...

Other than that it's a busy week with Marsh gone to Chicago and me prepping myself for my sister's departure:( We head down to St. Simon's next Wednesday for a wedding and I am looking forward to it, although the blackberry works there.

Marsh finally told his co-workers today that we are expecting...we have been rather slow in spreading the news. We were holding out to tell two sets of friends until we saw them in person but they both told us within the past 2 days they are expecting! I am much further along than both so we looked kind of silly but not just calling them and telling them. Oops.

Guess I better get started on dinner and I have to do some training with Munson tonight. We've been going to a lady in Crabapple as we need the training probably more than Munson...he just has to learn we're the bosses. When we're giving him kisses and treating him like he is human he really isn't getting that message...not sure what that means for our parenting skills...sigh.

Quick update

Dr. and dentist appointments today - decided to get stuck in traffic just once instead of twice! Everything is going well as I enter my 17th week. Dr was happy that I gained 3 lbs and said my stomach measured fine and that is was pretty much it. Next month will be a little more exciting since we're going for the ultrasound.

Oh and my teeth are good too:)

Gotta go - will write more soon!

Lots of traveling!

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! Last week started with Devon & I making the graduation trip - it was nice and of course exciting and sad at the same time. Then Friday morning Marsh and I, along with Devon and her boyfriend Phil, headed down to Gulf Shores, AL for a quick beach trip. That's the first time in 3-4 years I've been to the Gulf. We had perfect weather and it was very relaxing...just a LONG drive. Everything takes longer now that we're in the northern burbs. Not to mention between Montgomery and the beach on I-65 it's quite rural. Kind of like 1-16, right Debbie? Didn't Oxford have a plant in AL somewhere off 65?

Next week I head up to Virginia for work and then when I return Marsh has to travel for work. Yuck. He hasn't been on the road in quite some time though, so he needs to go visit his clients. At the end of June we are attending a wedding in St. Simon's and we'll spend a few days there beforehand. I'll be kind of sad though - my sister leaves for Dallas while we're in St. Simon's. It will be weird coming home and not being greeted by her dog Scarlette. I am going to miss both of them so much.

Have a great week...sorry I have no idea how to lay out the pictures within the post any better.

"When he graduates, I'll be 33...

and that is OLD!" Those were my exact words to my mother the day my little brother was born. I don't even think I saw the kid that day as it was a Friday night and I had to get to our high school football game, followed by spending the night at Brandy Adam's house and flirting with Scott Tuck who became my boyfriend for about 3 months. Ahhh...just goes to how how much I DO remember about that day and it's because Alex arrived. While we are 14 years apart, my little brother is very special to me and I have very fond memories of helping raise him when he was little. It's so hard for me to acknowledge that he is all grown up and over 6 feet tall. But it's time to face the truth and I fly down to Florida tomorrow to watch him graduate Tuesday night. My mom has had a child in school for the past 28 years. It's definitely going to be an adjustment for her. Guess the time is right for her to dote on a grandchild :)

So here's to Alex - way to go little brother!!

And 33 really isn't all that old! At least that's what I'll keep telling myself.

So far, so good!

I just got back from my appointment and I heard the heartbeat - the monitor device thing ( i don't know the technical term!) showed a rate of 147 bpm so all is well. I scheduled my ultrasound for July 9th so that is definitely something to look forward too! No weight gain yet...I eat all of the time...so I am sure things will change over the next few weeks as I am officially in my 2nd trimester.

My doctor is way too popular - 4 hours round trip between the drive and the waiting. I have get to work and salvage the day!! Take care!

Technology glitch...

Well, the computer system at my home office is down so I cannot access my files. I figured I'd write a few lines in the interim. We had a busy weekend doing family things. Marsh's cousin got married Saturday afternoon in Dahlonega and then his mom/stepdad came to our house to spend the night. On Sunday we had a lunch for his mom and his sister/husband joined us as well (they spent the night in Dahlonega). How should I put this nicely - Marsh and his sister are not close. However they both behaved and I know his mother appreciated them being in the same room for a meal! We were very disappointed that neither of Marsh's brothers attended. We've invited them over several times but it never works out. Marsh is very much the youngest and I think his siblings overlook him a bit. It's one reason why he is a very reserved person. But all in all it was a pleasant visit. As soon as they all left I parked it out the couch, watched Nascar and even took a quick nap...something I never do!

My next Dr appt is tomorrow and I am looking forward to hopefully hearing a heartbeat. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

First comes love, second comes marriage...

third comes 2 dogs...and yes then the baby carriage! We are expecting - I hit the 12 week mark yesterday. My due date is November 20th, right before the GT-UGA game. I think the baby should arrive on that Saturday as it would only be fitting. The Jackets are definitely going to win this year as I need the headline for the baby book.

Everything is going well so far and my next dr. appt is next week. I haven't been sick and yes I am tired but not much has changed with my daily routine. Except I've nixed the coffee :( I look forward to asking y'all tons of questions over the next several months so get ready!

2 years of wedded bliss (or something like that) as of today...Viva Las Vegas! I hope we will be out there this time next year - perhaps our first vacation away from the little one.

Well, guess that is enough news for now as I need to get to work. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the week and Happy Mother's Day to you.

Trying this Blogging thing again...

I thought I would give this another shot as I really enjoy reading the updates from all of you. I am just not very good with computers or uploading pictures (or taking pictures for that matter). It's also tough to be on the computer when I don't have to be...since I spend so many hours of my day in my little basement office (aka cave) in front of the screen.

Everything is going well here in Cherokee County. I traveled to Virginia last week for work and of course it took me forever to get home. Glad Delta is out of bankruptcy but could they please do something about ASA and their poor service? Sheesh! However what is most important is I made it back safely :) I also received some good news while in VA - a promotion! I've been working hard for it so I was very pleased.

Marsh, Devon and doggies are all fine. Devon is in Dallas, TX right now with her boyfriend as she is moving there with him in late June and they are picking out a place to live. I'll be sad when she leaves but I know how happy she is about this new adventure in her life. She already has the job lined up and everything. My brother graduates in 3 weeks and my mom has her house under contract. It appears she is moving my way although I wouldn't mind just a wee bit of distance...like an hour or so? She isn't sure where she is going to land and she also has to find a job. I am trying to help as much as possible but it's tough - almost a full time job in itself doing the research.

I missed the Sopranos last night but it's waiting for me on DVR. I was so exhausted from a weekend of yard work. I will try to watch it tonight in between Dancing with the Stars although I heard it was boring...with only 5 episodes left I sure hope things get more exciting soon. Did anyone else besides me get sucked in to watching the 2 full hrs of American Idol last week? I was in a hotel room so that is part of my excuse...I had a feeling everyone would be safe. And I even voted this time around!

Well, hope everyone has a great week! I'll do my best to post as often as possible. Y'all take care!
