Could they be sisters?

I know I know, all babies look alike. Especially when dressed in the same outfits. But in looking through our pictures of Hadley and now Leighton, Marsh and I can't get over how similar they look!

We were able to leave the hospital Sunday so b/c I escaped early I have to get my staples out today. Fun! Leighton did lose some weight the first few days but as of her dr appt yesterday gained back 2 ounces and is now 7 lbs, 8 oz. She loves to eat so no issues there...now if we can get a few more hours of sleep at night we'll be all set.

Hadley is adjusting...and showing off and crying and doing things she isn't supposed to do...so pretty normal stuff for this situation. She wants to push Leighton in her swing at 100 mph but otherwise she thinks "baby" is just great!

Haven't had any wine yet but once I get done with this percocet...it awaits!! Woo hoo!

Leighton Wren Duncan

Well, my doctor didn't guess the weight quite right...we have a 8 lb 1 ounce baby girl! Leighton arrived at 7:23am and we are all doing great (a little tired but otherwise fine). Here are a few pictures from the recovery room; we'll post more soon!

Seven Traits...

Unfortunately I do not know 7 bloggers to forward this too but I still wanted to participate...although coming up with 7 new traits y'all don't already know about is kind of hard. I am just the same old Amanda - high strung as ever.

1)I do not have a green thumb. I wish I did but it's just not my talent. I couldn't keep a small pot of basil alive - very sad as I sure love basil!

2) I shave my legs every day. It goes back to high school - Debbie remembers - when I broke my arm the night before our football game. I hadn't shaved all week b/c I knew I would that Friday morning in order to wear my cheerleading skirt. After 6 more days of no shaving in the hospital I was completely grossed out. So 18 years later...still shaving daily.

3) I like to work. There are days where I want to jump out a window because of work, but overall I still like to work. That all being said, I need to find a way to work less hours...like a 40 hour week would be nice?

4) Much like Jules, running is a huge part of my life. And it's all thanks to her! It's so mental for me as well as physical and I can't wait to get back to full strength here soon. I have my post baby 1/2 marathon picked out - it's the Thanksgiving race - which will be here before we all know it.

5)I eat my frozen yogurt (every night - pregnant or not) out of a coffee cup instead of a bowl. Drives my husband nuts. I feel like I put less in the cup than I would in a bowl so it's a portion control thing. Not sure if that is really the case though...

6) Vamp it up. I have an affinity for vampires. It started with the Anne Rice Books and Dracula back in the 90s, and more recently the Twilight Series (note I was not a fan of the movie and hope New Moon will be MUCH better). Now I am completely sucked into (no pun intended) True Blood on HBO, which is based on the Sookie Stackhouse book series that I am also currently reading.

7) I am a worrier. At the present moment I am worried, nervous, anxious, excited and scared about bringing a new baby into this world. Will I give Leighton as much attention as I gave Hadley? Will Hadley be ok with all of these changes? Am I doing a good job as a mom now? A wife? A professional? A friend? A runner? Will Belue get any attention ever again? How will I make all of this fit into the daily routine? I just hope and pray for two happy, healthy girls and I hope we don't let them down too often. I know we'll make mistakes; hopefully we'll continue to learn and grow from them as a family. And maybe one day I will learn to worry less and "Let It Be".

Take care!

Tick tock tick tock

10 days away at the most! Just a quick update...we found out Monday that this little one wants to be just like her big sis already. She is also breech. So good thing we already had the delivery scheduled! Hopefully she'll stay put until the 17th. Unless Marsh has a last minute change of heart I do believe we have a baby name (and the letters are up in the nursery) - Leighton Wren Duncan. We look forward to meeting her very soon.

We had a nice 4th of July weekend as we stayed close to home, went to the pool and grilled out with neighbors. This week has been crazy as I try so hard to get about 6 weeks worth of work done in one...an unattainable goal I know.

I'll leave you with a picture of Hadley applying her sunscreen. We're never too young to take care of our skin :) I am going to tell her to slather on the anti- wrinkle cream starting at age 12! Take care everyone!

Week 36!!

Woo-hoo, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And my toes, just barely. I have all of my hair, nails, etc appointments set up so this kiddo can arrive anytime after July 10th. Yes, I have to be well groomed ya know?! Of course work is a different story - that will be madness no matter what - but hopefully things won't completely fall apart during my 6 weeks "off".

I am just ready to stop sleeping on my left side and to get rid of these charlie horses. I get awful calf cramps almost every night and they are so PAINFUL!! Especially when you are asleep (not an easy task for me right now) and then BAM.

New dilemma - it was announced today that one of my favorite people in the entire world - Sir Paul McCartney - will play at Piedmont Park on August 15th. I really really really really really can't miss this. But I am not sure how I can swing it with the month old that needs to be fed. So I am thinking...hotel room in midtown...any chance I can go out and come back in (it is a park after all)...I don't know. Of course I haven't run this by my hubby nor does he share in my adoration of Sir Paul (or the Beatles...nobody is perfect). Tough tough decisions!! LOL!!

Gotta get back to work. Here is a picture of Hadley on Father's Day, dressed up for church.

They Grow Up Too Fast!!

The rails went up Saturday morning; Saturday night my baby girl was sleeping soundly in her big girl bed. And all naps and night nights since have gone very smoothly. I guess the transition is complete! It was sad moving all of Hadley's things into her new room, separating out the "baby" toys and books...and I can't believe we're about to do it all again in 5 weeks. I bought a new round of nursing supplies and a couple of other baby items and wow, reality has set in! You would think the aches, pains and big belly would have clued me in sooner...no, it took walking down the Medela aisle at Target to for it all to click. My 34 week appt went fine yesterday; I am measuring at 33 weeks so they guestimate another baby in the 6-7 lb range. We'll find out soon enough!!!

Time

I wish I could blog/write while I run. I do my best thinking while running and I would be able to provide more interesting content here. I also want to start a sports blog but again, I just don't know how to squeeze that in. I keep thinking I'll figure out how to juggle everything but so far, no luck. My day starts at 5am and ends somewhere between 10pm-11pm and I don't even have to commute!!! I go from being frustrated to telling myself it's not a big deal and life goes on and to just hang in there and take it one day at a time. It's a daily conversation I have with myself.

May is/was a blur - I made it through 2 work audits and major home repairs. The last 2 weeks included a long weekend at the beach and a visit from my sister. Isle of Palms was very nice although the water was still freezing cold. Hadley didn't care one bit - we kept having to get her out so her lips would return to a normal color! I think our next beach trip will be to the Gulf though. I did get to run a 5k they held on the beach so that was fun. Competitive Amanda could not run this race (although under normal circumstances I think she would have won for the girls)...however Pregnant Amanda waddled along and did not walk it at all :) Getting a high five from Hadley at the finish was awesome. We had a fun visit with Aunt Devon as always and she'll be back in July after her new niece arrives.

Hadley has her big girl furniture and we just need to put up the rails; then we can start the transition. Maybe we'll put that on our "to do" list for this weekend. I also need to do some research on BPA free bottles...assuming this child will actually take a bottle unlike her big sis. Then I need to get some newborn clothes that are for summertime. We are running out of weekends to get this stuff done!!

OK I've had to stop and start this entry too many times so I guess it's goodbye for now.
