Ups and Downs

The past two weeks have been a bit of a roller coaster ride as we had to make a very tough but necessary family decision. We had to say goodbye to our first child. The four legged one. It was gut wrenching and I am still a bit weepy. But in time the pain will pass and the stress level in our house is decreasing a bit (quickly replaced by other worries but nonetheless...). To quote Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that".

We're also dealing with some house stuff that isn't much fun but since we plan on staying here awhile it's easier to accept. Until I check my bank balance :)

We did have a nice Easter Sunday, with an early church service and a yummy brunch at a tiny little restaurant called The Red Hen. Hadley enjoyed an Easter basket full of books and crayons. Yes, we're holding off on the candy as long as possible. Thank goodness we have a little bookworm who is now also obsessed with crayons...although peeling off the paper is more fun than actual coloring!

Pregnancy #2 isn't nearly as comfortable as the first time around. My back constantly hurts. She constantly kicks and moves around and wakes me up throughout the night...I know that is a good thing...guess since Hadley was in a breech position her movements just felt different. I only get about 6 hours of sleep as it is so I am definitely not getting enough rest. I am hoping for more sleep in about 2-3 years?? We'll see.

On an exciting note, my mother took her first plane ride in 30 years (yes 30 years) and she is in Dallas for the weekend visiting Devon. I am very happy for her as I hope this experience will open some new doors in the future. There are so many things she wants to see/do but she has let her fear of flying get the best of her. So now she knows she can do it (yes, Xanax also helped!).

T-minus 32 days until we head to the beach for some quality family time. I can't wait.

Quick update

We had our follow-up ultrasound today and the cysts have disappeared as we hoped. All is well and our girl even gave us a Thumbs Up on the big screen. She weighs approximately 1 lb 11 ounces so we are right where we should be for the 25th week.

Happy Easter and Happy Spring!
